E-Bay it is--and challenging without the subs.
But it's worth it.
Will seek out that new Keppouroku, thanks!

| The same seller has some really rare stuff, like the 1980's Tokugawa Ieyasu taiga and Kasuga no Tsubone. |

$54 is good deal!
Taiga DVD box sets usually cost more than $500. _________________

That is a really good point .
Some of these dramas will never appear in Subbed Format ever, the recent Sanada Drama was a fluke and a one off .
I sat through un-subbed VHS Versions of Hideyoshi ,Mori Motonari and Tai Heike about 10 years back and of course being familiar with the various stories was a major plus . _________________ "One mans washing machine is another mans music " |

Well, since the person selling it probably burned the ripped files to 35 cent Sony DVD+Rs and is making a profit of about $50 each time it sells, I don't really feel justified in paying that. _________________ Shop Amazon.com, support the Samurai Archives: http://amzn.to/wnDX2j

Actually, it's a way nicer production than that. Full graphics on box, disks, etc.
Even without subs, still beats the natto out of "Jersey Girls" or "American Idol."

I think it just comes down to how much you want to see a drama .
Yes sadly it must be a rip and someone is making bookoo dollars though i like to think the vendor is losing his haori on Musashi and Gou not to mention those more modern Taiga's like Inochi .
Where he is really probably making a small fortune is on Idol Dramas like Hana Yori Dango 1 and 2 plus both films .
So comes the moral question .
Yes id really love to see Honshoo Tatsu !.
or
Do i really want to grease this persons palm with my hard earned 50 bucks knowing that he is making a killing ?. _________________ "One mans washing machine is another mans music " |

WL,
my take is if the networks felt it was a good business strategy to make DVD copies with subs and sell/distribute, they would.
sure, one can stand on the moral soapbox and contemplate if one is helping feed a system that is not totally clean. (which is each person's right)
in the case of many programs, there is no alternative to choose that is "clean". (relatively speaking clean)
the real deal, consumer would rather have.
knockoffs if one cannot afford the real deal and wish to be "wannabes" (which is ok)
the storyline of Napster music sharing and then Apple's I-tunes is a good case study of how a legit business responded to a market demand that was created from scratch to fill a void not yet filled by legitimate businesses. (one reason Apple is one of the largest companies in the world now)
To have total disregard to rules and regulation does lead to Chaos.. but. there is much larger worries than if a copy of some TV show or movie is clean. |

I usually just call my wife and say, "Hey, Honey, would you record a bunch of stuff off Jidaigeki Channel and send it to me?" |

Actually, it's "Yae no Sakura."
Why did I think none of the Aizu Women's Brigade survived the war? Apparently Yamamoto Yae, the gunnery instructor of some fame did, and went on to make an interesting marriage and assist in the Russo-Japanese war as a nurse.
I'm looking forward to this!

Currently watching Hideyoshi. Decent so far, but most of the actors seemed too old for the roles. Sorry, but actor who plays Nobunaga just does not cut mustard. That being said, the best scene so far is when one of the Imagawa ashigaru was going to take a break to urinate, he gets shot up by the Oda army during the Battle of Okehazama. _________________ You'll Never Walk Alone!

Is this the Takenaka Naoto version? Where did you get your hands on it? It's the holy grail of Taiga dramas that you have there. If so, how in the world did you find it?
I always thought it was goofy that Watari Tetsuya played Nobunaga from his 20's, he looked way too old, but I was willing to overlook it since the drama is so great overall - and hey, this is WATARI TETSUYA from Graveyard of Honor, this isn't just some schlub. C'mon, it has Sanada Hiroyuki, Tatsuya Nakadai , Takenaka Naoto, Masahiko Nishimura (from Furuhata Ninzaburo), Matsu Takako (back when she was hot), Watari Tetsuya - this is a virtual all star cast! The only real bump in the road for me was Sawaguchi Yasuko, who is not only unattractive, but has an unattractive personality to boot, although the unattractive personality explains Hideyoshi's philandering _________________ Shop Amazon.com, support the Samurai Archives: http://amzn.to/wnDX2j

The actor who plays Hideyoshi has the ugliest face I have ever seen. Oh those eyes! Perfect for the role. _________________ You'll Never Walk Alone!

Sanada as Mitsunari pretty much steals the second part of the drama by playing him like a villain from a Shakespeare Play .
It also has probably the best Honnoji Temple scene on film .
What's missing is the cruel Hideyoshi of his later years . _________________ "One mans washing machine is another mans music " |

Yes and his wife but they lay the blame directly at Mitsunari rather than Hideyoshi .
Still Komyo would depict a based on what we know more factual interpretation . _________________ "One mans washing machine is another mans music " |

This version was mainly based on Eiji Yoshikawa's book. Great book and great choice, but not all that historically accurate, and Hideyoshi seems to get redeemed at the end. _________________ Shop Amazon.com, support the Samurai Archives: http://amzn.to/wnDX2j
