I want to introduce my favorite illustrators in Taisho~Showa period.
These illustrations were on kids magazines in those days.

The 1st is Ito Hikozo.

Very impressive! The second and third images look a lot like Gustave Dore's woodcuts.

Ito Hikozo himiself was practicing Kendo and Iaido since he was 10 by his father.
(His father said their ancestor was sword master Ito Ittosai.)
So he was really good at drawing sword fighting.
He died just 2 years ago.
