Hello everyone -
I'm trying to figure out the name of a movie that was mentioned in either episode EP01 or EP02 dealing with the Battle of Nagashino.
I've listened to the pod casts more the once but can't seem to figure out the movie they are talking about.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks -
Larry |

It has to be either Kagemusha or this 1963 movie titled ....whoops braindead!!! title is something like River of ???.
I cant remember the exact name but their is a 1963 movie something like River Tanegawa or similar that follows a group of peasants who are drafted to fight for the Takeda and end up getting killed at Nagashino .
I have not heard the Pod Cast but Kagemusha is the most well known Film to deal with Nagashino . _________________ "One mans washing machine is another mans music " |

The only movie I mentioned was Kagemusha. Great movie, not a great representation of the battle. _________________

Could this be "The River Fuefuki?" I haven't seen it, but it is described as a movie that follows several generations of a family and it includes Takeda Shingen in the credits. That's what it sounded like to me. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053842/ _________________ "It is largely left to her (Nature) own natural bodily perfection, and she has no special need to resort to artificial coloring and powdering to look beautiful." -Takeda Shingen's "death poem," borrowed from Zen literature.

That is it and i just watched it and its superb .
It follows sevral generations of young men from a peasant family that enlist in the Takeda seeking to become Lords/Heroes .
Very much an anti war film it is pretty amazing especially towards the end with the post Nagashino Katsuyori as the Takeda still think they can turn the tables despite being on the run and having rival clans hunting them .
Made in 1960 the print is from a French DVD and is somewhat soft but considering how rare this is and that it is a great film im just happy to have finally seen it after like a 20 year wait . _________________ "One mans washing machine is another mans music " |
