Hello samurai!!!
Anyone know Imjin war films (dvd)(Japanese invasions of Korea 1592-1598)?
I have Immortal Admiral Yi Sun-shin dvds -(South Korean television -2004). So, have other more films(dvd) of Imjin war?

There is a 1986 version of Yi Soon Shin but impossible to find
a 2003 KBS series KIM GAE TONG (aka KINGS WOMAN )is pretty decent ,it has the famed red coat general ,and deals with the two princes Kwanghae and imhae .the former would become King and the later was captured by the Japanese and later killed when his bother took the throne from Sunjo (14th Yi Dynasty King .
There is a major drama coming this year about the Kiaseng that seduced a Samurai General than killed herself taking him with her .
The current KBS Drama THE GREAT KING SEJONG ,depicts the 15th century battles against the Wako (Pirates )and the eventual conquest of Tsushima by the Korean's in retaliation for the Wako raids ,this one has just stated . _________________ "One mans washing machine is another mans music " |

NONGAE
is the new Imjin War Drama ,It runs 50 episodes but is not slated to air until the fall .
NONGAE of course is legendary in Korean History as a national heroine ,because being just a Kiaseng she still gave her life to destroy a Samurai General unlike the Joseon court who found it more prudent to run . _________________ "One mans washing machine is another mans music " |

The Korean's didn't conquer Tsushima in 1389-they were only interested in conducting a raid and breaking up the pirate bands there (which, from all accounts, they did an effective job of). They tried it again in 1419 but had much less successful results, their large force being turned back by the So.
I wonder if Korean TV will ever produce a series about the raids made by Korean pirates on Tsushima and other parts of Japan in the 9th through the 12th century, not to mention the attack on Tsushima during the Mongol Invasions. Somehow, I don't think that would fit in with their programming... |

How in the world are they going to pad that out to 50 episodes? There's really not enough there to fill an hour long special. Maybe they'll have her moving amongst the circles of power, and focus mostly on the actions of everyone else during the run-up to the Imjin War along with its first year. The only other option would be to fill 49 episodes with fictional events in her life story, with the final episode focusing on her entrapment of Keyamura Rokunosuke using sex. |

Many Korean Imjin War Drama's (notice we never ever see Japanese Drama's on this subject ,not to mention the murder of Queen Min in 1895 ,though i dont think Min was killed by Ninja's as the Korean dramatist's seem to think )depict the Samurai being driven out of Japan by brave Korean freedom fighters but the reality is the Samurai were recalled after Hideyoshi's death .
So this alleged conquest of Tsushima is we all know wishful thinking on the Korean's part but when you have a 100 plus episode drama on a king where nothing really happened in his life aside from writing the Korean alphabet ,the Network's have to get creative to keep people watching it .How i wish NHK took the same point of view re Atsuhime .
As for Nongae of course they will give her a boyfriend and he will die tragically and we will get some fictional and real freedom fighters ,It will be a bloodbath and stocks of kleenex will sore .
Actually i am looking forward to Nongae .
Re the Mongol Invasions careful what you wish for in 2009/10 MBC have a 200 episode drama on the Koryo Kingdoms role in the Invasions and their subjugation by the Mongol's .
There was also Shindon a 50 episode drama in 2005 about the mad monk that controlled the Koryo court during the Mongol rule .
Shindon was deemed to arty and violent for prime time and it also had (drumroll.....................)Nudity .
There is a rather sexy sworddance on youtube somewhere from this series that id love to see but cant be found . _________________ "One mans washing machine is another mans music " |

NHK Taiga drama "Ougon no hibi" had Imjin war scenes.
However it is difficult for Japanese TV stations to make Imjin war movie because of interference by Korea. _________________
