Hi Nagaeyari.
The scan tests aren't good enough IMHO.
The binding can survive to some, but hardly for the
whole book. I'm planning to take High Resolution
photos with a Canon digital reflex. Quicker and
safer for the book but much greater to share.
Hereunder a map scanned today :
Suggestions ? Any news about the professors ? _________________ .

Sadly, no new news about the professors. I'm waiting for one more professor to reply and he's taking his time--I'm sure the start of the Fall semester has him swamped.
The picture is almost clear enough to read (it's a distribution map of bronze fishhooks, arrowheads, and one other item that I can't read--it's too fuzzy) for my own personal tastes, but to preserve or to use for study, taking pictures with a camera may be the best idea.
I took pictures of many of the pages of Nihon Kofun Daijiten with my digital camera. What's nice about using a camera is that the picture can be zoomed multiple times with no decrease in picture quality (because most cameras are several megapixels).
I leave for a college with a good Japanese library and a sizable history faculty in around 12 days. I hope to research more then.
Until that time, I'll be trying to get those two replies we talked about. Off to make some emails. _________________ Fukuzawa Yukichi - "Mo' money mo' problems" |

Yes, I've noticed that zooming in the kanji begin
fuzzy... My camera has 8 megapixel. With a tripod
I can take pics of 2 pages each shot with enough
quality for a good zoom in, I think.
I'm near holydays and major reapairs on my home, but this will be surely next test.
would you prefer a whole written page as next test
or this same page for comparison ? _________________ .

Now that we've tried a picture/map page, sure, let's try a full text page.

with the same money... _________________ .

Oh.. I don't know. I use a Canoscan lide 600F.
But I now realize that the problem is posting thru
photobucket. Nagaeyari needs the originals.
We're working on this, possibly thru bittorrent. _________________ .
