I notice my "revised draft" isn't posted in the link--whenever you get to it is cool, but for the record I did respond to constructive criticism.

Nate, I've got some very specific nits (easily fixed in an edit) for "The Intruder" if you want them. Despite a few boo-boos, it was one that I would have been willing to accept for publication after some fixing.
I think the general opinion on "Matsudaira Plot" was that it was classic jidai-geki fodder. Naturally, we liked it.

I've read Intruder and The Matsudaira Plot so far, both very well done. Intruder gets bonus points for making me read it twice to see how I didn't manage to pick up on the twist, while Matsudaira Plot was yet another great piece of writting from Nina. Well done!

In all honesty, I thought I was done for when I read the latin titled one. The writing style was absolutely captivating to me--I loved it.
I really liked my concept in "Running", but simply didn't pull it off like I had hoped. It started out as about 3 other stories before ending up as it did, and probably would have changed more had I not been writing it at midnight the day of the deadline.

Thanks. Glad to know it had the intended effect.  It was hard to write, because I *knew* what was going to happen the whole time; I felt like I was giving it away with each sentence.

I had fun writing "Matsudaira Plot." I hope that people will enjoy it.
Next year, I might write something more serious. This year was all in fun.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who read those two first--and I enjoyed both of them. Wave Tossed--you aren't a "Kaze Makase Tsukikage Ran" fan are you?
And "Intruder" was great. I started off thinking "Eh... more ninja stuff, sigh." but kept reading because of the high rating... wonderful!

Again, thanks. The whole idea was born out of the endless ninjer posts here, and the concept that someone sneaking around late at night in dark clothing didn't *have* to be a ninja. First thought that came to mind as to why someone would sneak around at night? Getting busy (no repression issues here). And who would be getting busy in a Japanese history story? Well, the Mack Daddy himself, Genji. And there we have it.

The comment I'll make, having judged the past two years, is that this year there's not one story that made me go "oh lord, why did someone submit this crap? Who was stupid enough to write this?" That certainly happened the past two years. Across the board, the level this year is the highest so far. The last two years, you could easily divide things into "these are worth considering, and these aren't worth a second read, and these....are putrid." This year, all of them were actual contenders. I probably wouldn't have voted for my own stories.

What, starting it 4 times doesn't count? 
Having made it about halfway through in my deepest penetration (flowery allusion not intended), I did use quite a bit from my vague memory. Particularly the part about his escapades starting out as episodes of he and his friends "pushing the limits", as I specifically remember that part.

I did have fun with my phrasing. As I said, writing it, I felt like I was giving the whole thing away.
