My wife took some snaps of her "Hello Kitty" Sengoku Daimyo Festival Wear for one of the other board members to take a look at, and I figured I'd post them here so everyone can have a laugh:

It's a shame that you can't wear swords in public in Japan (Mark Dacascos notwithstanding), as this outfit would have matched her Barbie katana (that I posted in the Arms/Armor forum a while back) perfectly...

I would have thought Hello Kitty was a pacifist, but you never know. . . Surprised

I had a very interesting experience yesterday evening in Paris. One must know that Japanexpo is currently taking place near the CdG airport.

At the big crossjunction of the subways in Paris Les Halles, there were 10 to 20 teenagers disguised with very elaborate manga costumes and most of them were holding fake japanese swords...scarry Shocked

What about the rest?

Genuine Japanese swords?

Incidentally, what does the drawn blade of the Barbie katana look like?

Perhaps Hello Kitty is a reincarnation of the Prince of Evil himself, and the colour pink is a reference to blood.. Twisted Evil

Basically, it's a sharpened chrome metal blade comparable to any other cheap katana made for display rather than fighting. Not something I'd ever try to train or fight with. She could probably 'cute' someone to death with it, though, or disable them with laughter.
