I'm sure this is well known to many people here (maybe it's posted in the old forum), but one free online resource I've been turning to recently is the Harimaya Sengoku Daimyō Tankyū. I use it for the buke/daimyō-ke family trees and because it gives the origins of many of the coats of arms. Since it's online, it's literally at my fingertips as I'm writing, so it's really convenient. I know a lot of this material is in books, but if I need a quick genealogy or to find out how long a family lasted into the Edo Period, this site usually does the trick much quicker than digging through my "library." http://www2.harimaya.com/tankyu/index.html PS: I posted this in "Kamakura to Sengoku" because that was the neatest category for it. I wonder if a new online Resources/References category might be more suitable? (Just to keep things tidy and easy to find, ya know). Not sure how the mods feel about that, but I'd be happy to share other resources in the future. Edited by JapanThis, May 12 2015, 05:49 AM.

I'm not on my home computer right now, but this would be a good place to post online resources in general. |

I keep forgetting about that site. It's really excellent - super thorough and extensive. I only wish it were a proper cite-able source... |

True dat. I used it extensively for setting up the Katchi Made game houses. Like most things on the net, though, it's a good quick reference that hopefully can refine what you look for in a cite-able source. |
