Most of you know already, but my blog is The Sengoku Field Manual. I write about military history methodology, my work on Nagashino in particular and Japanese military history in general, and my journey breaking into academia on a part-time basis (at the moment).

The latest post is talks about my trip to the Association for Asian Studies Southeastern Conference and an upcoming project using digital technology to look at the Battle of Nomonhan/Khalkhin Gol between the Soviets and the Japanese in 1939, with the idea of eventually supporting a group of archaeologists planning to excavate sites related to the campaign. I don't post as regularly as I would like, but I hope to get a post up at least once every 2 weeks or so starting soon, as I work on that project.

What a lovely blog! The Palantir system sounds very interesting. I assume it was so named because of Tolkien?

I'm looking forward to more posts. Not that I can talk...

The Palantir system would be great for Sengoku Japan. I can imagine that using it to look at where vassal castles and strongholds are located, paired with military movements and other data could show who was relied on by the Daimyo, and who was on the outs, maybe doing more than their fair share of military responsibility along military routes.
